Word Porn Wednesday : Which Word?

I remember back in middle school and high school when peer editing was a mandatory part of English class. I always dreaded it because all the errors would give me a headache. Literally. I figured that it was only a trial for a moment, and that when I got older, those mistakes would no longer exist. Boy was I wrong. Sometimes people make me wonder how they graduated middle school, let alone college without knowing how to use certain words. See examples below.

To – indicates motion
Too –
also or excessively
Two – the number 2.

There – a place
Their –
it belongs to them
They’re –
they are

Your – it belongs to you
You’re – you are

Then – a point in time
Than – used to compare

Where – a place
Were – past tense of are
We’re – we are

Break – terminate or shatter
Brake – used to slow/stop vehicle

Affect – to influence
Effect – the result

Breathe – a verb
Breath – a noun

Buy – to purchase
Bye – goodbye
By – near, through, on behalf of

No – opposite of yes
Know – to be informed

But will people stop making these same mistakes.. over… and over… and OVER?!
