I’m told that I’m a Jacklyn of all Trades. I must admit, I’m good at a lot of things… like… A LOT of things. Unfortunately though, I don’t have the attention span to focus and actually be great at any one thing. And that stinks. Of the things that I’m decent at, drawing is probably at le bottom of the barrel. Two days ago (and yesterday) I decided to draw again for the first time in like 5 years.
After my first attempt, I seriously felt like
After a few tantrums and paper balls thrown across the room, I was finally starting to get into the groove. As you all are well aware, anime is the spice of my life. My favorite thing about anime characters is their eyes. So I started with that.
After a few more eye drawings I decided to be brave and actually draw a person.
Not gonna lie, I really felt like a BOSS after drawing that.
Since I was feeling myself, I was like “What the hey, let’s take on a big kahuna” and I decided to draw one of my most favorite anime characters in life: Naruto Uzumaki.
Too bad I probably won’t draw again for another 20 years because I don’t have the patience to do so. Here are the rest of my drawings for your viewing pleasure. Oh yeah, HAPPY FRIDAY !!
Get the patience. These are really good.
Thanks so much! You know.. I think the fact that I have perfectionist tendencies really hinders me from doing things. I get too frustrated too fast if it doesn’t come out the way I think it should. =/
That happens to me too sometimes, getting frustrated if things don’t work out how I want them to, but for me I think the best thing is to leave something and come back to it. You don’t have to finish it all at once, and when you come back chances are you’ll be able to better produce what you wanted to in the first place. You definitely have the talent for it. Xx
This is so cool! I think the mean looking black lady was on to something….. lol She’s right you are a Protégé. I’m checking in every morning 🙂 I love the simplicity of your posts.
Aw, don’t make me blush. I definitely appreciate your readership! I’m a pretty simple, laid back person so I feel no need to put on for the people, ya know? I want my blog to reflect who I am and the fact that you’re enjoying that aspect makes me want to click my heels, do a jig, then bust out with the dougie. Just a little. 🙂
Mean-looking?
She’s talking about this lady that we work with. It’s a running inside joke. Lol.
OH, well I feel pretty dumb now. (Hyper sensitive tendencies). I’m sorry!
No worries! I’m pretty feisty myself so I’d be looking at her sideways too. Haha!
Generally, my drawings tend to be better if I don’t draw for a while, and get worse when I spend time practicing them. Actually, this is pretty true for everything I do, from writing to kendo
Good work on the above, though. They look great!
Thanks so much. And I feel the same way. I guess that’s why I never become great at anything because I stop out of either frustration or boredom. I guess good isn’t such a bad thing though. Lol 🙂
Your drawings are really good! TGIF!
Thanks so much! And yes, I’ll definitely be doing a little happy dance at 5 today 🙂
Um, that was awesome. Happy dance, well deserved. So funny, after I posted, I told myself I needed to take a look here. It’s been a few days. Suddenly you visited me as well. STRANGE ^ ^
🙂 I’m glad you enjoyed them. And great minds definitely think alike because I thought the same of you. Good luck today!
You can draw anime well. And yes, they do-thank you
Being Jacklyn of all Trades and not Jacklyn The Great at Nothing is perfectly acceptable and respectable and accomplished – as long as YOU are content with that. You clearly have the potential for greatness, but it would take patience; so it is a choice. Just make the choice one you can live happily with!
I’m new to all things artistic, trying to find the key to unlock that reserve of creativity we all have, just some find harder to access. Intrigued by your very well-drawn animes (yet another art form I know little about). And the videos were hilarious – especially the boss tossing her lustrous mane.
Great job on your D-Day!
Loving the eyes you’ve drawn 🙂 And excellent Sheldon clip!

Thank you! Sheldon is probably one of my favorite actors out right now.
A drawing is simply a line going for a walk.
That’s a great way to think about it. I love that!
Oh ! those drawings are beautiful ! and once again your gif’s make me laugh all the way!! haha..
Thank you so much 🙂 Gifs are my life. I can look at them for hours and just laugh.
Stopping by on the 4th day of the #Challenge. Your blog is a trip. You are a tech rock star in my book. Hope you make lots of new blogging friends this month. If you have time or interest, I am writing about gardens and related things. Come and see me.
I will definitely be stopping by! Thanks so much for reading and your kind words 🙂
Excellent drawings! You should dust that talent off more often 🙂 and love your gif’s.
Thank you! I really just need to stop being lazy. Lol. I might make it a goal to draw one thing a week or something.
I love the post-it drawings! Don’t let perfectionism get in the way. Being creative is allowing yourself to make mistakes.
That’s definitely true. I just need a prescription for a little more patience!
